shelbyPets and children are both incredibly vulnerable to wolf attacks as they are often smaller than wolves and relatively defenseless. If they can be separated from an adult who will protect them, oftentimes wolves take advantage of the situation with disastrous consequences.

This video is a good example of what could happen to a single family dog if attacked by a wolf pack:

Shelby, a dog dragged off the porch of a house by wolves in Twisp, WA in 2013. A 100 pound wolf had Shelby in its mouth. Pro-wolf advocates suggested the owner use air horns to scare the wolves away.
